The Seniors Resource Center opens 10 a.m. today
at 1780G N. Market St. The public is invited.
Center Director Susan Hilberg said the public
will have an opportunity to see the center and
discover what programs and activities will be
offered by the nonprofit organization.
The entire schedule for November will be available
and visitors can sign up for programs.
Adamson Musonda, author and founder of Zambia
Hope International for orphaned children, will
speak at the opening and again at 10 a.m. Friday.
Hilberg said the author is booked for five more
presentations at the new center in November.
She said a volunteer "geek squad" from
Best Buy will give hands-on individual training
on the center's four brand-new computers. The
first session will be 10 a.m., Nov. 13.
Hilberg said planned programs are educational
and enriching. The center has a library of specialized
books and periodicals.
Frederick Mayor Jeff Holtzinger will make remarks
at the opening, as well as Musonda and his host
while visiting here, Thomas Cromwell.
Hilberg expects representatives from Frederick
Memorial Hospital Health Care, Hood College and
Frederick County's mental health and aging departments
will attend.
"We will be a resource for the county's
seniors who are 50 and older," Hilberg said.
